The da Vinci® Surgical System Is Nothing New to Our Physicians
Portnuef Medical Center was one of the first healthcare systems in the region to implement the da Vinci® Surgical System. It’s one of the most precise and least invasive surgical treatments available anywhere. Dr. Michael Jones, one of the physicians at Pocatello Women’s Health Clinic has extensive experience with the system, “The da Vinci system enables me and my fellow surgeons here at PWHC to perform the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions with unmatched precision. Smaller incisions generally result in less pain, less blood loss and a quicker recovery.”
The da Vinci System puts a surgeon’s hands at the controls of a state-of-the-art robotic platform with 3D, high-definition vision and miniaturized wristed instruments are incorporated that are designed to help doctors take surgery beyond the limits of the human hand. All da Vinci surgeries are performed with a team of highly skilled and trained medical professionals.
Dr. Jones continued, “Of course the da Vinci system is subject to a case by case evaluation. It’s not appropriate in every surgical situation or for every patient. In those instances in which the patients needs match up with the systems strengths it really is quite a remarkable tool.”
Physicians from the Pocatello Woman’s Health Clinic have been so proficient with the da Vinci system that they are routinely asked to share their talents and knowledge with other organizations that are considering implementation of the system.
